Meeting between Ambassador of Bangladesh and Deputy Foreign Minister of Uzbekistan

Ambassador of Bangladesh appointed to Uzbekistan. Mohammad Monirul Islam met with Deputy Foreign Minister of Uzbekistan Haydarov Ilkhom Udkurovich on Thursday (07 November 2024 AD).
At this time, the first secretary of the Economic and Tourism Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Ajibhav Siraj and the Minister of Bangladesh Embassy Md. Nazmul Alam along with the senior officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Embassy were present.

Ambassador Dr. Islam recently informed the Deputy Foreign Minister about various initiatives and steps taken to expand Bangladesh-Uzbekistan economic cooperation. As business and investment, he mentioned textiles, medicine, jute and jute products and agriculture sector.

For this purpose, he emphasized on banking process, visa facilitation and direct air traffic between the two countries, which will play an important role in the development of education, culture and tourism, besides bringing business and trade dynamics, the ambassador expressed optimism.

The ambassador expressed the opinion that Bangladesh and Uzbekistan can work more closely in the field of the demand for skilled manpower created by the economic transformation of Uzbekistan, including textiles and infrastructure. The Deputy Foreign Minister of Uzbekistan reiterated his government’s sincerity and determination to fully realize the immense potential of Bangladesh-Uzbekistan economic cooperation. Appreciating the achievements and development of Bangladesh in the IT and agriculture sectors including textile and pharmaceutical industries, he expressed his intention to utilize Bangladesh’s experience and expertise.

Relaunch of online visa application for Bangladeshi citizens, establishment of direct air connectivity between the two countries, He assured the ambassador that appropriate measures will be taken by communicating with the appropriate authorities regarding the establishment of the Uzbekistan diplomatic mission in Dhaka, the MoU between the Central Bank of Uzbekistan and Bangladesh Bank.

The meeting concluded with the assurance that both will continue their efforts and activities to make the economic relations between Bangladesh and Uzbekistan more robust and meaningful.
