The Bangladesh High Commission in Ottawa commemorated World Children’s Day and Children’s Rights Week 2024 with a special event held at the High Commission premises on 7 October 2024. The celebration, chaired by High Commissioner of Bangladesh to Canada, Ms. Nahida Sobhan, brought together representatives from the Bangladeshi-Canadian community along with children.
The event featured an Art Competition based on the themes ‘My Mohterland’ and ‘Future world’ organized by the High Commission to engage children living in Canada.
Participants from various provinces across Canada contributed creative artworks based on these themes. High Commissioner Sobhan announced the winners of the competition and commended all participants for their artistic efforts and contributions to the celebration of children’s rights.
Speaking directly to the children, the High Commissioner remarked, “This day is for you. It celebrates your creativity, your rights, and your potential to shape the future. You are the heart of our community, and we are committed to ensuring that your voices are heard and your talents are nurtured.”
The event concluded with a cake-cutting ceremony, led by the High Commissioner alongside the participating children, symbolizing a joyful close to the celebration.
