Environment Minister Engages in Meeting with Saudi Arabia’s Minister of State for Environment

Dhaka, Broadcasting News Corporation: Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister Saber Hossain Chowdhury participated in a significant bilateral meeting with Saudi Arabia’s Minister of State for Environment, Dr. Osama Ibrahim Faqeeha, during the ongoing UN Environment Conference in Nairobi, Kenya today. In a cordial exchange, State Minister Faqeeha extended a formal invitation to Minister Chowdhury to attend the United Nations Convention to combat Desertification (UNCCD) scheduled for December 2024. This invitation underscores the growing collaboration between Bangladesh and Saudi Arabia in addressing environmental challenges on a global scale. Recognizing the mutual commitment to environmental stewardship, both nations have agreed to enhance cooperation through the signing of a memorandum of understanding. This memorandum aims to bolster collaboration in key areas such as environmental protection, wildlife conservation, combating climate change and pollution control. Furthermore, discussions encompassed a wide array of topics including knowledge exchange programs, agricultural sustainability, mangrove conservation, waste management, the development of smart cities, and strategies to address land degradation. These discussions underscore the shared determination of Bangladesh and Saudi Arabia to pursue innovative solutions to pressing environmental issues. Minister Chowdhury expressed Bangladesh’s dedication to advancing environmental sustainability both domestically and internationally.
