Dhaka, Broadcasting News Corporation: Environment, Forest, and Climate Change Minister Saber Hossain Chowdhury and State Minister for Power, Energy, and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid held a bilateral meeting at the State Minister’s office in the Ministry of Power, Energy, and Mineral Resources at the Bangladesh Secretariat Tuesday. The meeting focused on discussing the necessary actions to achieve the government’s target of using 40 percent renewable energy by 2041. During the meeting, it was highlighted that Bangladesh will submit its Nationally Determined Contributions (NDC) to the UNFCCC next year. Determining emission targets for the power and energy sectors is a crucial aspect of this process. Both ministers engaged in a thorough discussion on this matter and agreed on taking effective steps aligned with the government’s environment-friendly development policies. Environment, Forest, and Climate Change Minister Saber Hossain Chowdhury stated, Effective measures to be taken to ensure the use of 40 percent renewable energy by 2041. To increase the use of renewable energy and reduce emissions as per the target, we need to adopt and implement precise and sustainable plans. Coordination between the Ministry of Environment and the Ministry of Power will be further strengthened for this purpose. The meeting also discussed the implementation of the government’s master plan for the power and energy sector. Such meetings will continue periodically to strengthen the cooperation and coordination between the two ministries in achieving the country’s environment-friendly and sustainable development goals.
