Advocate Zainul Abedin, president of the forum of Bangladesh Nationalist Lawyers Forum, said that the fascist government was established through the abolition of the caretaker government system. Besides, the judgment given by former Chief Justice ABM Khairul Haque was unconstitutional.

He said these things in a press conference organized at the Supreme Court Lawyers’ Association building on Thursday (October 17, 2024).

He also said that BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has applied for a review to reconsider the verdict. A complaint has been filed against former Chief Justice ABM Khairul Haque. The review petition will be presented for hearing next Sunday.

On May 10, 2011, the Appellate Division declared the Thirteenth Amendment to the Constitution null and void related to caretaker government system. A six-judge bench of the Appellate Division, headed by the then Chief Justice ABM Khairul Haque, announced the verdict.
