On Saturday (August 10, 2024), Chief Advisor of the Interim Government Dr. Muhammad Yunus arrived at Abu Saeed’s house at around 11 o’clock. There he visited the grave of Abu Saeed. Later went inside Abu Saeed’s house in the courtyard of Saeed’s house for a long time and talked to his parents and family members and comforted them. Later, standing in the courtyard of Abu Saeed’s house, the chief adviser handed over the national flag to them. Later he raised the flag with them. Abu Saeed is the son of Maqbul Hossain of Babanpur village of Madankhali union in Pirganj upazila of Rangpur. He was the youngest among nine brothers and sisters. On July 16, around 2:30 in the afternoon, police and Chhatra League clashed with students agitating for quota reform on the road in front of Begum Rokeya University. Abu Saeed, a 12th batch student of Begum Rokeya University’s English department and one of the coordinators of the anti-discrimination quota movement, stretched out his hands in the face of police fire during the clash. Unarmed Abu Saeed was shot dead there. The scene of him getting this chest in the face of bullets caused a great stir in the country and abroad. It inspires the students all over the country to strengthen the movement. At this time Dr. Muhammad Yunus Along with leaders of the anti-discrimination student movement and advisers of the interim government, Nahid Islam and Asif Mahmud, one of the leaders of the anti-discrimination student movement, Akhtar Hossain, Sarjis Alam and many others were present.
