Ashis Chowdhury, Special Correspondent, Broadcasting News Corporation: President Md. Sahabuddin has appointed Syed Refat Ahmed as the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court. The Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs issued a notification for his appointment on Saturday (August 10). Secretary of the Ministry Ghulam Sarwar signed by The notification said, “His Excellency the President has appointed Justice Syed Refat Ahmed, a judge of the Supreme Court, High Court Division, as the Chief Justice of Bangladesh under the powers provided in Article 95 (1) of the Constitution of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh.” This appointment will be effective from the date of taking oath.
