ASUNCION, Broadcasting News Corporation : Mario Abdo Benítez, President of Paraguay, received Saqr Ghobash, Speaker of the Federal National Council (FNC), and his delegation currently on an official visit to the country. During the meeting, Ghobash conveyed the greetings of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, to President Benítez. Benítez extended his greetings to President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed and His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, highlighting potential opportunities for cooperation between the two countries in various fields. At the start of the meeting, Benítez welcomed the visit of Ghobash and his delegation, stressing the visit’s importance to the mutual ties between the two countries. He also highlighted the key role of parliaments in strengthening the relations between the two friendly countries, and commended the UAE’s support for Paraguay’s medical sector during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The meeting, which was attended by Saeed Abdullah Saif Al Qamzi, UAE Non-Resident Ambassador to Paraguay, discussed ways of strengthening the cooperation between the UAE and Paraguay, and the two sides also addressed regional and international issues and stressed the importance of achieving global peace, security and stability. Ghobash said that the UAE, under the leadership of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed is keen to strengthen its relations with all countries based on mutual respect. The meeting was attended by an FNC delegation that included members of the Emirati-Latin American and North American Parliaments Friendship Committee, who are Dr. Tariq Humaid Al Tayer, Chairman of the Committee, Saeed Rashid Al Abedi, Vice Chairman of the Committee, and Maryam Majid bin Thaniah, Member of the Committee, as well as FNC members Dr. Omar Abdel Al Rahman Al Nuaimi, Secretary-General of the Council, Afra Al Basti, Assistant Secretary-General for Parliamentary Communication, and Tariq Ahmed Al Marzouqi, Assistant Secretary-General. Ghobash highlighted the advancing bilateral ties between the UAE and Paraguay, especially after the visit of Benítez to the UAE in March 2022, and his meeting with President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed and His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid.
