Syeda Rizwana Hasan, Advisor to the Ministry of Water Resources and Environment, Forest and Climate Change, assured of a permanent solution to alleviate the waterlogging of Bhabadah and adjacent Beel areas of Jessore. She said The flow of Amdanga canal here should be increased. Dredging of Hari river, Bhairav river and Mukteshwari river in Bhavadah area should increase the flow. Most people say Tidal River Management (TRM) is the solution. Matters have become more complicated as TRM has not yet been implemented despite the directions of the High Court.

The advisor said these things on Sunday (November 10, 2024 AD) after coming on site to inspect the waterlogging of Jessore’s Bhabadah and adjacent Beel areas. Rizwana Hasan today visited Amdanga canal area, Sundali Dham intersection and college area, Kapaliya bridge and 21 vent regulator of Bhavdah and adjacent bill area. She listened to the local people and assured a permanent solution to alleviate the waterlogging of Bhabadah area.

The adviser also said that measures will be taken by talking to the concerned parties so that the collection of installments is not insisted on now or postponed or delayed, and then collected slowly. The advisor said that it is not possible to remove the water overnight, but steps will be taken to remove the water from Bhavadah Bill and adjoining areas as soon as possible. Already 10 excavators have been sent. The adviser herself came and saw it. Meanwhile, he directed the local administration to monitor the ongoing excavation work in the Hari River of Bhabadah area.

The advisor also said, the work may not be done at the speed you want, I am here to speed up the work. Asking if the excavation work in the Hari river near the Kapalia bridge is going on properly, the adviser said, “If necessary, I will come here again to see the work.” Mentioning that this will be our objective that we should go towards a permanent solution, the adviser said that if necessary, we will sit with everyone with our action plan. For me, the livelihood of 10 lakh people is more important than 10 thousand people and we must do the same.
