Syeda Rizwana Hasan, adviser to the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change and the Ministry of Water Resources, said that impartial and fearless journalism is essential for democracy and environmental protection. He said that the current government is committed to maintaining a reliable journalism environment. Media Commission has been constituted so that journalists can work impartially and benefit the people.
He said these things at the ‘Desh TV-DRU Best Reporting Award 2024’ ceremony at Dhaka Club on Friday (08 November 2024 AD).
The adviser said, journalists should bring the news of the whole country. It is important to do journalism with public interest issues. Honest and responsible journalism acts as an important force for social change. Courageous and unbiased reporting will help steer the country in the right direction.
Asif Nazrul, Adviser on Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs was the chief guest on the occasion. DRU President Shukur Ali Shubo and General Secretary Mohiuddin and other journalist leaders were also present.
Among the award winners are the names of the winners announced in print, online, television and radio media.
Abu Saleh Rony, winner in the open category for print media, online, television, radio; First Prize in Print Media Category Mahmudul Hasan (Nayan); Second Prize Ahsan Habib Russell; Third prize (jointly) Jaseem Uddin Haroon and Farhan Ferdous.
Muhammad Arafatul Momen Aditya Arafat won the first prize in the electronic media category; Second Prize Masood Mostahid and Third Prize Parvez Nadir Reza.
Yasir Arafat Ripon, first prize winner in the online media category; Second prize Md. Jobair Hossain (Arafat Jobair) and third prize Md. Touhiduzzaman Tanmay.
