Courtesy meeting of Ambassador of Sweden with Adviser on Labor and Employment

On Tuesday (October 22, 2024) Mr. Asif Mahmood Sajib Bhuiyan, Advisor in Charge of the Ministry of Labor and Employment and the Ministry of Youth and Sports, had a courtesy meeting with Mr. Nicolas Weeks, Ambassador of Sweden.

In this interview, various activities of the Ministry of Labor and Employment and the Ministry of Youth and Sports including child labor, labor laws, elimination of violence against women, empowerment of women, creating a worker-friendly environment in the garment sector, ensuring the safety of workers were discussed.

At that time, the ambassador of Sweden, Nicholas Weeks, asked about the activities of the ministry regarding the resolution of labor dissatisfaction in the garment sector, child labor and the safety of workers. M. Shafiquzzaman said, We are committed to meeting all the fair demands of the workers. The government, employers and workers are working together for the development of the labor sector. We are going to take up a new project to create a database to address discrimination among workers.

Adviser on Labor and Employment Asif Mahmood welcomed the Ambassador of Sweden and said that the youth are the main stakeholders of the country. The youth took to the streets first in the July uprising and led from the front to topple the fascist government. The Ministry of Youth and Sports is taking training measures at the grass root level through the Directorate of Youth Development to enhance the skills of the youth of the country.

Under the leadership of The chief adviser of the interim government Muhammad Yunus, we are working to create a youth-friendly environment. This trend will continue.
