Home and Agriculture Adviser Lt. Gen. Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury (Retd.) said that if the top terrorists released on bail commit crimes, quick arrest measures will be taken. He said this while addressing the 3rd meeting of the Advisory Council Committee on Law and Order at the conference room of the Ministry of Home Affairs at the Bangladesh Secretariat in Dhaka on Tuesday (October 22, 2024).
The meeting should be done to improve the law and order situation across the country; maintenance of law and order, overall security and other relevant matters on the occasion of Vishwa Ijtema; Initiatives to prevent, eliminate and control terrorist activities and militancy; Various issues related to weapons storage and conducting illegal arms recovery operations were discussed.
In the meeting, there was a discussion about improving the law and order situation, making the law and order forces more diligent, and strengthening the arrest process of law and order violators and criminals. Apart from this, the issue of revealing the political identity of various criminals and instigators in the movement-meetings was discussed in the meeting.
There was a discussion about presenting the various demands to the government committee/commission regarding the demands of the protestors instead of rallying on the streets.
On this day, the meeting discussed about holding public meetings and gatherings in Suhrawardy Udyan instead of Shahbagh to remove public suffering.
The matter of informing the public through regular press briefings of the important actions taken by the heads of law and order forces came up in the discussion.
