“Students pledge, let everyone have safe roads” On this theme, a discussion meeting was held on the occasion of National Safe Road Day-2024 celebrations organized by the Road Transport and Highways Department at the Osmani Memorial Auditorium in Dhaka on Tuesday (October 22, 2024 AD). Muhammad Fawzul Kabir Khan, Advisor to the Ministry of Road Transport and Bridges, was present as the chief guest on the occasion.

Road Transport and Bridge Advisor said in the discussion meeting, The safe road movement of students in 2018, the mass uprising of students in 2024 and later the traffic control of the young society have shown us a new way to maintain order on the roads. At this time, he also commented that the guidance of the youth will be helpful in building safe roads.

Calling on road accidents to be looked at from a human perspective and not just through statistics, the adviser said, “All deaths are painful.” No death can be measured by compensation. Therefore, to ensure safe roads, regardless of the transport owner, workers, passengers, pedestrians, everyone needs to know and follow the relevant laws and regulations.

At this time, he said that the current interim government is working on the highest priority to promote safe road activities and resolve traffic jams, besides building a social movement to ensure safe roads.
