The Press Wing of the Office of the President issued a statement on Monday (October 21, 2024) regarding the various media campaigns quoting His Excellency the President on the resignation of the former Prime Minister.
which is as follows-
‘The campaign in various media quoting His Excellency the President on the issue of resignation of the former Prime Minister has created confusion in the public mind. In this regard, His Excellency the President’s clear statement is that the resignation and departure of the Prime Minister in the face of the mass revolution of the students, the dissolution of the Parliament and All kinds of questions raised in the public mind about the constitutional validity of the current interim government have been reflected in the order of the Appellate Division of the Hon’ble Supreme Court on August 8, 2024 in Special Reference No-01/2024. It should be noted that according to Article 106 of the Constitution, the Appellate Division gave this opinion in response to the request of the Supreme Court Appellate Division on August 8, 2024 by His Excellency the President. His Excellency the President appealed to all to refrain from destabilizing or embarrassing the Interim Government by creating any fresh controversy on this settled matter.’
