Action will be taken if harassment case is filed

Home Affairs Adviser Lieutenant General Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury (retd.) said that action will be taken against those who file harassment cases. Recently, instructions have been given in this regard by the Ministry of Home Affairs. Appropriate action will be taken against those who are suing innocent people, showing fear of litigation to grab money.

The adviser said these things during a press briefing at Rajshahi BGB Sector Headquarters on Saturday (October 19, 2024).
There is a rumor among the people that the police is not able to work at full speed – in response to questions from journalists, the adviser said that there has been a lot of transition and improvement from the situation of the police after August 5.

He said, a trauma has worked in the police. I don’t have anything to fix it in two or four days. But slowly the situation is improving. We need some more time.

There has been a corruption of crores of rupees in the agricultural mechanization project – In response to the question of the journalists, the advisor said that there has been a huge corruption not only in the field of agricultural mechanization, but also in the matter of fertilisers. We are investigating the matter. Action will be taken against those found guilty. Two people have already been taken into custody in this regard.

When asked whether the government has specific information about Hasan Mahmud, the advisor said, “We do not have specific information about him.” But if you have such information you can help with the information, in that case you will be rewarded. He requested journalists to find these facts through investigative journalism. The advisor said that there was no government from 5 to 7 August. By then most of the criminals had fled the country.

In response to questions from journalists regarding the initiative to bring Sheikh Hasina and Obaidul Quader back to the country in view of the issuance of arrest warrants against them by the International Criminal Tribunal, the advisor said, The Foreign Affairs Adviser spoke in detail about this in the media. We have an agreement with India in this regard. We will definitely follow this agreement.

Meanwhile, BGB Director General Major General Mohammad Ashrafuzzaman Siddiqui, Rangpur Region Commander Brigadier General SM Zahidur Rahman, Rajshahi Sector Commander Colonel Md Imran Ibn A Rauf and others were present.

Earlier, the adviser addressed the Durbar held for the officers working at BGB Rajshahi Sector Headquarters and Rajshahi Battalion (1 BGB). Besides, the adviser visited 14 BGB Patnitala battalion in Patnitala upazila of Naogaon district in the morning.

During the visit, the senior secretary of the Ministry of Public Administration. Md Mokhles ur Rahman, Inspector General of Police Md Moinul Islam and others were present.
