Fisheries and Livestock Adviser Farida Akhtar said effective measures should be taken against the middlemen to prevent the increase in the price of eggs.
For this purpose, the producers should supply eggs directly to the buyers by forming cooperative societies. As a result, both producers and consumers will benefit and consumers will be able to purchase eggs at affordable prices. The adviser said these things in the speech of the chief guest at the exchange meeting with fishermen and marginal farmers of Pabna district on Saturday (October 19, 2024 AD) at the Pabna District Commissioner’s office.
The advisor said that poultry farms have also been affected by the recent floods in Bangladesh, which have reduced egg production. As a result, there has been instability in the egg market.
The adviser urged women entrepreneurs not only to raise domestic chickens, but also to raise domestic chickens and eggs. Earlier rural women reared poultry and sold it to wholesalers in the village. They would have benefited financially. All measures should be taken to bring back that situation.
Under the chairmanship of Pabna Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Mofizul Islam, Secretary of the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock Syed Mahmud Belal Haider, District Livestock Officer Dr. AKSM Musharraf Hossain, District Fisheries Officer Md. Abul Kalam, fishermen and farmers of different upazilas of Pabna were present on the occasion.
