President Md Sahabuddin urged the international community to come forward to solve the Rohingya problem. The President made this call when the newly appointed non-resident ambassadors of Belarus and Estonia and the non-resident High Commissioner of Uganda to Bangladesh presented their credentials to the President on Thursday (October 17, 2024). A smart contingent of the Presidential Guard Regiment provided a guard of honor to the ambassadors and high commissioners on arrival at the Banga Bhavan.
First, the newly appointed ambassador of Belarus, Mikhail KASKO, presented his credentials. Then the Ambassador of Estonia Marje Luup And finally, Uganda’s newly appointed High Commissioner Joyce Kakuramatsi Kikafunda presented credentials to the President.
Welcoming the new ambassadors and high commissioners, President Md Sahabuddin said that Bangladesh prioritizes the development of bilateral and mutual relations with all countries of the world including Belarus, Estonia and Uganda. He also said that Bangladesh produces various international quality products including ready-made garments, pharmaceuticals, ceramics and leather goods. He urged the diplomats to take initiatives to increase the import of these products from Bangladesh. Referring to the investment-friendly environment of Bangladesh, the President urged the investors of these countries to invest in various sectors including special economic zones of Bangladesh. He emphasized on the exchange of visits of bilateral government and business delegations with Belarus, Estonia and Uganda.
The President also said that forcibly displaced Myanmar citizens are a serious problem for Bangladesh’s economy and environment. He sought the cooperation of the international community for the honorable repatriation of the Rohingyas.
During the meeting, the High Commissioners and Ambassadors expressed their interest in working to build a better future for the people of Bangladesh and their country. Besides, they assured that they will work to advance the trade-investment relationship with Bangladesh. They sought the full cooperation of the President in fulfilling his duties.
Senior Secretary of the President’s Office Nasimul Gani and Military Secretary Major General Mohammad Adil Chowdhury, Press Secretary Md Zainal Abedin and related officials were present during the meeting.
