Mr. Asif Mahmud Sajib Bhuiyan, Advisor to the Ministry of Labor and Employment and the Ministry of Youth and Sports inaugurated the TCB product sale program by the government for the workers of the garment industry at fair price on Wednesday (October 16, 2024 AD) at Jaber & Zubair Fabrics premises in Tongi, Gazipur.
At that time, adviser Asif Mahmud said that the workers also gave blood in the July uprising. The first beneficiaries of the blood-paid freedom should be the hardworking people of this country. As a result of the work of the country’s hard workers, Bangladesh has survived despite so much loot. He said, “I have a dream, as part of the social security program, I want to introduce a pension scheme for the hardworking garment workers who contribute the most to the country’s exports.” They should be able to spend their lives in comfort at least after the end of their working life. It is a long term process. But we can do the work with the cooperation of all the participants.
The advisor said, we have faced many challenges immediately after taking charge. Recently in the flood situation in the country, the government has successfully supported the flood victims. Currently their rehabilitation work is going on. Bringing to us the accumulated demands of 16 years long fascist rule. The government is working to fulfill the fair demands of all.
The adviser also said that the conspiracy of some outsiders caused dissatisfaction in our labor sector, in view of which we have taken the initiative to resolve the dissatisfaction of the workers by declaring an 18-point joint statement on the workers’ side and the owners’ side. Today in view of that demand we have started supplying TCB products at low prices. Product sales program of TCB will be increased gradually.
Among others, the secretary of the Ministry of Labor and Employment was also present at the event. H. M. Safikuzzaman, Commerce Ministry Secretary Mohang Salim Uddin, Chairman of TCB Brigadier General Md. Mostafa Iqbal President of BGMEA Khandaker Rafiqul Islam.
