Open Market Sale (OMS) program of agricultural produce has been inaugurated. On Tuesday (October 15, 2024 AD) Finance and Trade Advisor Dr. Salehuddin Ahmed and Agriculture and Home Affairs Advisor Lt. General Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury (retd.) inaugurated the programme.

At this time, the Secretary of Agriculture. Mohammad Emdad Ullah Mian and Commerce Secretary Mohang Salim Uddin were present.

Open market sale (OMS) of agricultural products has started on a pilot basis at 20 places in the capital Dhaka from today. It will run till 15 November 2024.

Under this program, one kg of potatoes will be sold at Tk 30, a dozen eggs at Tk 130, one kg of onions at Tk 70, 1 kg of raw papaya at Tk 20 and five kg of various types of green vegetables will be sold in package form.

The Directorate of Agriculture Marketing has taken this initiative to sell potatoes, eggs, onions as well as various vegetables under Open Market Sale (OMS). The vegetables will be bought directly from the farmers and sold at cheap prices in certain places in the capital.
