Information and Broadcasting Adviser Md. Nahid Islam said that those who were martyred and injured in the uprising are the heroes of the country. We recognize the sacrifice of the leaders and activists of various parties who gave their lives in the movement. We should not use martyrs and wounded for our own political interests.
The adviser said these things during the check handing over of donations from Juli Shaheed Smriti Foundation to those injured in the student-public movement at Dhaka Medical College Hospital on Sunday (October 13, 2024).
Nahid Islam said that financial donations are being given to the family members of those who were injured and killed in the movement from Shaheed Smriti Foundation. The matter is ongoing. Before coming to Dhaka Medical, many people have received treatment in different places, we will pay that cost. In response to the journalist’s question about the treatment of the injured abroad, the information adviser said that necessary measures will be taken according to the advice of the concerned doctors.
Referring to cases against journalists, he said those who were directly associated with the fascist government, were instigators and supported the genocide would be brought to justice. Apart from this, a committee has been formed in the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting to look into the matter if any case is filed against someone unfairly.
If any journalist or his family feels that they are suffering due to the case, contact us and we will help them. Regarding the case of injured and killed, he said that a legal team is working in this regard. We will complete this trial in the Special Tribunal. The Secretary of the Foundation, Mir Mahbubur Rahman Snigdh presented to the journalists the account of donations from the Foundation to the injured so far. On this day, a total of 122 people were paid 1 crore 22 lakh 64 thousand 400 taka 1 lakh per person.
Among them, 23 out of 30 people undergoing treatment at Dhaka Medical College have been given a check of Tk 1 lakh per person, while the remaining 7 have been paid today through BKash.
The money has been provided for the development of 33 people undergoing treatment at the National Institute of Ophthalmology and 59 people at the National Orthopedic Hospital and Rehabilitation Institute. It should be noted that till now a total of 1 crore 71 lakh 42 thousand 50 taka has been given to 176 injured people from July Shaheed Smriti Foundation.
