Prabarana Purnima will be celebrated in a joyful atmosphere by Buddhists

Home Affairs Adviser Lieutenant General Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury (Retd) said that Buddhists will celebrate Prabarana Purnima, the second biggest festival of Buddhism, in a joyful atmosphere.

He said these things while briefing the journalists present after the meeting of a delegation of Bangladesh Buddhist Federation in his office at the Ministry of Home Affairs at the Bangladesh Secretariat in the capital on Wednesday (09 October 2024 AD). Jahangir Alam Chowdhury said, we will provide all kinds of cooperation that the Bangladesh Buddhist Federation needs regarding security. Regarding security in the mountains, he said, there is no security threat there. Strict action will be taken against those who try to disrupt peace and security in the hills.
He said, you have seen who tries to break the security there. How these threats came about and how our law enforcement and administration people dealt with them has been well covered in your media. He also said that some miscreants always try to make the situation worse. The interim government will not allow that to happen. The situation is under our control. Regarding Durga Puja, the advisor said, Puja will be done very well. There is no alarm, no untoward incident. He said, I visited the Puja Mandap in Gazipur yesterday. The situation there is good. Overall the overall security situation during Durga Puja is very satisfactory. It should be noted that the members of the visiting delegation are the acting chairman of the advisory council of the Bangladesh Buddhist Federation, Professor Dr. Sukomal Barua, International Buddhist Vihara Dhaka Principal Bhadanta Dharmamitra Mahather and Vice Principal Mr. Buddhananda Mahather, General Secretary of Bangladesh Buddhist Federation Bhikkhu Sunandapriya Mahather and Buddhist Religious Welfare Trust Secretary Jaydatta Barua.
