The government is working to develop an early warning system

Environment, Forest and Climate Change Adviser Syeda Rizwana Hasan said the government is working to develop a simple early warning system to avoid loss of life and livelihood in natural disasters.
He urged all stakeholders to contribute actively to develop an effective hydrological status and outlook system.
He said this at a function organized at Pan Pacific Sonargaon Hotel in the capital on Wednesday (09 October 2024 AD). she was the Chief Guest at the Consultative Workshop on Early Warning for All: Hydrological Status and Outlook Systems. She also said that a strong hydrological system will help in accurate forecasting of future disasters. Through which timely necessary steps can be taken to protect life and natural resources.
Syeda Rizwana Hassan called for concerted efforts to build inclusive systems for vulnerable populations, citing the need for collaboration between government agencies, scientific and local partners.
The workshop was chaired by the Secretary of the Ministry of Defense Ashraf Uddin, Disaster Management and Relief Ministry Secretary Kamrul Hasan spoke as a special guest. Secretary of the Ministry of Water Resources. Nazmul Ahsan and WMO Head of Hydrology and Water Resources Department. Wheerin Kim, Representatives of government agencies, NGOs and international partners participated in the workshop and discussed the challenges and opportunities in developing a robust early warning system to address hydrological risks. Earlier, Syeda Rizwana Hasan inaugurated an online training workshop on Global Environment Facility (GEF) policies and procedures held at Gazipur.
