Broadcasting News Corporation : Just when you thought it was Finnished… Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez resurrected Finnish Prime Minister Sanna Marin’s party scandal — to share an old clip of herself dancing and comparing herself to the European head of state. Marin, who at 36 is one of the world’s youngest world leaders, came under fire earlier this month after cellphone videos showed her dancing and parting wildly at a private party and a nightclub. On Monday, almost two weeks after Marin faced backlash, the 32-year-old New York congresswoman tweeted a short clip of herself from 2019 boogying down to Edwin Starr’s classic 1970 hit “War” outside her Capitol Hill office. “Elected officials who dance? We’re here for it, @marinsanna,” AOC wrote, adding a winking emoji to the caption accompanying the post, which quickly went viral. AOC originally recorded the video three years prior in response to an online troll’s attempt to embarrass her by leaking a clip of the young politician dancing on the roof of Boston University while she was a student there. “I hear the GOP thinks
women dancing are scandalous,” Ocasio-Cortez tweeted at the time. “Wait till they find out Congresswomen dance too!” Marin issued an emotional statement last week addressing the controversy surrounding her partying, and argued that she had a right to a private life. “I am also human,” Finnish media quoted the European head of state as saying with a broken voice. “I want to believe that people look at the work we do, not what we do in our free time.” Her speech came after she was also forced to apologize for a photo showing a pair of influencers kissing while topless during another party at the prime minister’s official summer residence in Helsinki.
Many commenters, however, have come to Marin’s defense — among them Hillary Clinton, who showed her solidarity with the prime minister by sharing a photo of herself dancing and chugging beer while representing the US at a summit in Colombia in 2012. “As Ann Richards said, ‘Ginger Rodgers did everything that Fred Astaire did. She just did it backwards and in high heels, ” the 74-year-old failed presidential hopeful tweeted.
“Here’s me in Cartagena while I was there for a meeting as Secretary of State. Keep dancing, @marinsanna.” Marin replied by thanking the former first lady. NEWS COLLECTED FROM NEW YORK POST.
