Fisheries and Livestock Adviser Farida Akhtar said, urging to reduce the use of antibiotics to make food safe, the use of antibiotics in animals should be controlled to get safe food for people.
Human food is closely related to animal food. Our bodies have become antibiotic resistant due to the antibiotics left in the vegetables, fruits or fish-meat we eat. As a result, even if the patients are given antibiotics, they are no longer working. The adviser said these things in his speech as the chief guest at the exchange meeting with poultry, cattle and fish farmers in the Upazila Parishad hall organized by the upazila administration of Tangail, Delduar on Tuesday (08 October 2024 AD). Calling for increasing social awareness, the adviser said that if farmers focus on producing food themselves instead of buying fish and chicken feed from the company, the Department of Fisheries and Livestock will support the farmers in any need. When farmers are informed about the increase in the price of chicken feed and the price of chicks, the advisor said, You will be an independent farmer, not a contract farmer. Through contract farming businessmen are doing business as they want, they are getting profit but real farmers are not getting profit. The advisor asked the question, how can work be done if the river-channel-canal-bill is full? He assured to consult with the Ministry of Water Resources if necessary to save them. The advisor directed the local administration to take strict legal action against the illegal encroachments of rivers, canals and canals.
The advisor also said that the poultry industry is making an important contribution in creating women entrepreneurs and as a result women are becoming self-reliant in many ways. Under the chairmanship of Delduar Upazila Nirbahi Officer Mustafa Abdullah Al-Noor, Tangail District Livestock Officer spoke at the meeting. Md. Mostafizur Rahman,
District Fisheries Officer Md. Abul Kalam Azad, Upazila Livestock Officer Dr. Mohammad Shafiqul Islam and Senior Upazila Fisheries Officer Md. Tariqul Islam. At that time, fifty livestock farmers and forty fish farmers were present along with government and private officials of different levels.
