Two people were killed in a collision between a speeding bus and an easybike in Mymensingh’s Nandail. At least two other people were injured. The accident took place on Saturday (09 November 2024 AD) around 9:30 pm near the fish farm of Nandail town headquarters on the Mymensingh-Kishorganj highway. The deceased are Rahmat Ullah (46), an easybike driver of Savar village of Nandail Sadar Union, Habib Ullah (22), son of Abdul Jalil of Jhalua Madhyapara village of the municipality.
The injured are Abdus Salam (60) and Nezatul Islam (25), passengers of Easybike. Later, Abdus Salam who was seriously injured was admitted to Mymensingh Medical College (MAMEC) Hospital and Nezatul Islam to Dhaka Medical College (DMCH) Hospital.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Nandale Highway Police Station Khorshed Alam confirmed this. He said that two people were killed and two were injured in a collision between a bus and an easy bike. The mangled Easybike was recovered but the bus driver escaped.
The highway police and locals said that the easy bike was going towards Jhalua with passengers from Nandail old bus stand on the Mymensingh-Kishorganj highway around 9:30 pm on Saturday.
The easybike was hit by a speeding bus coming from the opposite side of the fish farm. The Easybike twists and turns. Easybike driver Rahmat Ullah and three passengers were seriously injured on the spot. At that time, the locals rescued the injured first at Nandail Upazila Health Complex, but when the condition worsened, Habib Ullah and Rahmat Ullah died on the way to MMC Hospital.
When Nezatul Islam’s condition worsened, the doctors of Mamek Hospital sent him to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH). OC Khorshed Alam said that no one died on the spot. One died on the way to the hospital and another died while undergoing treatment. Legal action is under process in this incident.
