A young man named Alamgir Hossain was killed in an attack by his opponent due to a dispute over land in Shibganj of Chapainawabganj. The deceased is the son of deceased Golam Mostafa of Ranibari Chandpur-Gabatala village of Chakkirti union of the upazila. The incident took place in Ranibari Chandpur area of ​​the upazila at around 12:30 on Saturday (November 09, 2024). At least 5 people were injured on both sides.

Locals and eyewitnesses said that there has been a dispute over Alamgir’s land with his opponent Monglu for a long time. Alamgir and his brothers stopped the opponents when they went to cut mango trees in the morning. At one stage of the discussion, both sides got involved in a domestic arms-weapons clash. Alamgir Hossain died on the spot due to the opponent’s attack.
At least 5 people were injured on both sides. The injured were rescued and admitted to Shibganj Upazila Health Complex for treatment. Among them, three have been shifted to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital for better treatment.

Inspector Golam Kibria of Shibganj police station said that after getting the information, the body of the deceased was recovered and sent to Chapainawabganj district hospital mortuary with 250 beds for autopsy. Preparations are underway to file a case at the police station on behalf of the deceased’s family. 4 people were injured in this incident, who are receiving treatment at Shibganj Health Complex.
