215 sacks of smuggled Indian cumin seized

RAB has recovered 215 sacks of Indian cumin from Haluaghat Municipal area of ​​Mymensingh. A case has been filed against 3 to 4 unknown persons including the names of four people in this incident.
On Tuesday (October 15, 2024 AD) at around 9 pm, cumin was seized from the house of a person named Abdul Qadir in Akonpara area of ​​Ward No. 4 of Haluaghat Municipality.
However, RAB could not arrest anyone in this incident.

According to RAB and case sources, RAB can get this information from businessmen who smuggled Indian cumin to Bangladesh by evading customs duty and stored it for sale. Later, around 9 pm, a task force led by RAB-14 raided Qadir’s house in Akonpara area of ​​Ward No. 4 of the city. At that time, 215 sacks of Indian cumin were seized in the house. Its current market value is around Taka 35 lakhs.
Sensing the presence of the RAB, the unscrupulous traders ran away.

As no one could show valid documents and following complaints from locals, Sergeant Abul Kashem of RAB-14 filed a case at Haluaghat Police Station against 3-4 anonymous accused including Wadud Master, Sirajul, Jahangir and Mohammad Ali.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Haluaghat Police Station Abul Khair said that a case has been registered in this incident and legal action is under process.
