Campaigns should be emphasized to increase hand washing practices

Family awareness should be increased for a child to develop a habit of cleanliness from childhood. The advisor said these things in his speech as the chief guest at the discussion meeting organized by the Directorate of Public Health and Engineering on the occasion of ‘World Hand Washing Day’ on Tuesday (15 October 2024 AD).

In order to involve the public at all levels of the country and increase awareness in achieving the sustainable development goals, the initiative of the local government department has celebrated ‘World Handwashing Day 2024’ today in Bangladesh along with other countries around the world. At the beginning of the program, a minute’s silence was observed to pay respect to all the martyrs who died in the anti-discrimination student movement in July-August.

UNICEF Bangladesh Representative Deepika Sharma and WHO Deputy Representative Rajesh Narwal were present as guests of honour. Tushar Mohan Sadhu Khan, Chief Engineer of Directorate of Public Health and Engineering, gave a welcome speech at the discussion meeting and thanked the Additional Secretary of Local Government Department and Managing Director of Dhaka Wasa.
