1 arrested in Mymensingh journalist’s murder case

The police have arrested a man named Sagar in connection with the murder of senior journalist Swapan Bhadra (55) of Mymensingh. He was arrested on Saturday (October 12, 2024 AD) around 3:30 pm from Pachar area of ​​Gouripur upazila of the district.

The arrested Sagar (18) of the same area. Son of Babul. However, he used to live in his grandmother’s house in Raghurampur Tanpara area of ​​Mymensingh Sadar. Kotwali Model Police Station Inspector (Investigation) confirmed this information. Saiful Islam said, Sagar was a crook besides taking drugs. People were fed up with his pain.

Journalist Swapan Bhadra was strongly against drugs in the area. As a result, it is believed that he was hacked to death for writing about it on Facebook. Sagar fled soon after the murder. Later, the police found out about his absconding location and arrested him. A case is pending against him. It will be sent to the court after the preliminary investigation.

Earlier on Saturday (October 12) around 11:30 am, a senior journalist named Swapan Bhradra (55) was hacked to death in Majhipara area of ​​Shambhuganj. The deceased Swapan Bhadra lived in Majhipara area of ​​Shambhuganj. He is the son of Jagesh Chandra Bhadra of Kakni Union of Tarakanda Upazila. He was the former vice-president of Tarakanda Press Club of the district.

Once worked in a local daily newspaper. The deceased Swapan Bhadra is the son of deceased Yogesh Chandra Bhadra of Raghurampur Tanpara area. He was working in a local newspaper and was the vice-president of Tarakanda Press Club (Part) of the district.
