BNP leader Salahuddin returned to the country

Ali Ashraf Akhand, Special Correspondent, Broadcasting News Corporation: BNP Standing Committee Member Salahuddin Ahmed has returned from India after 9 years. The plane carrying him landed at Dhaka’s Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport around two o’clock on Sunday (11 August 2024 AD). Salahuddin Ahmed welcomed a large number of BNP leaders and activists at the airport. Earlier, Salahuddin went missing from Uttara in the capital on March 10, 2015. On May 11, 2015, he was arrested by the local police after receiving calls from people while roaming in Shillong, Meghalaya, India.
Meghalaya Police registered a case against him under the Foreigners Act of the country. Salahuddin was acquitted in 2018 by the verdict of the lower court in the case. He was finally acquitted on appeal on February 28, 2023.
