The Ministry of Religious Affairs has formed a committee to investigate the complaints of Model Mosque and Islamic Cultural Center. On Wednesday (October 23, 2024), an office order has been issued in this regard from the Ministry’s Planning-II Division.

The other members of the committee convened by the additional secretary of the development division of the ministry of religion are the supervising engineer of the public works department of the concerned district, the district commissioner or the additional district commissioner as his representative, Executive Engineer of Local Government Engineering Department and Deputy Director of Islamic Foundation. But in the case of divisional cities, the Islamic Foundation will be a member of the Board of Directors. Director (Planning) Islamic Foundation has been assigned the responsibility of Member Secretary of the Committee.

This committee has been instructed to investigate the complaints related to the construction or management of model mosques built and under construction under the project titled ‘Establishment of 560 model mosques and Islamic cultural centers in each district and upazila’.

This committee will investigate the irregularities related to the construction or management of the model mosque received through written, oral, newspaper cutting, social media, electronic media or otherwise and submit a report. The committee has been directed to investigate and submit a report within 15 working days of receiving the complaint. However, for special needs, the committee should take approval for time extension. This committee can co-opt members if necessary.
