Fisheries and Livestock Adviser Farida Akhtar visited the Padma-Meghna Sanctuary area of Chandpur on Tuesday (22 October 2024). After that, she visited the hilsa conservation campaign in Shariatpur, Barisal and Bhola districts along with the hilsa shelter areas located on the Padma and Meghna rivers by speed boat.
Secretary of the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock Syed Mahmud Belal Haider, Joint Secretary Dr. Abu Naeem Muhammad Abdus Chabur, Joint Secretary. Hemayet Hossain, District Fisheries Officer Golam Mehdi Hasan, Chandpur Sadar Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) Md Al Imran Khan, Coast Guard Station Commander M Fazlul Haque, Naval Police Assistant Superintendent of Police Mohammad Imtiaz Ahmed along with officers of Chandpur Fisheries Department, Naval Police and Coast Guard officials.
The main aim of the campaign is to monitor the operation of mother hilsa conservation and shelter area. This initiative will play an important role in increasing the fish resources of the country by ensuring the reproduction of mother hilsa.
