Sharmeen S. Murshid, Adviser on Women and Child Affairs, said that collective efforts of all are needed to reduce torture from the society. Therefore, the government is determined to prevent torture with strong hands.
The adviser visited Khadija, a victim of physical and mental abuse by the housekeeper, in the burn unit of Dhaka Medical College Hospital on Monday (October 21, 2024 AD) and said these things while questioning them. The Children’s Adviser stressed the duty of doctors to provide intensive care and medical treatment to abused children.
She said that the Ministry of Women and Children Affairs is working to prevent women and torture. He thanked the doctors, lawyers and police for going to the spot and investigating the cases of abused children.
Earlier, the adviser said in a meeting in the conference room of Dhaka Medical College Hospital, we have to raise our voice against those who oppress women in the society, we have to campaign. The cases of the victims should be brought under speedy prosecution and punishment should be ensured. Then the abuse of children and women will be reduced from the society.
Najma Mubarek, Secretary of the Ministry of Women and Children Affairs and Brigadier General Asaduzzaman, Director of Dhaka Medical College Hospital were present at this time.
