Build a strong future through healthy habits

Syeda Rizwana Hasan, Adviser on Environment, Forests and Climate Change, said we need to change some habits to empower future generations.
Carrying food in polythene bags and taking hot drinks in plastic cups should be stopped. The habit of wearing a mask should be developed keeping in mind the environmental conditions.
Eat healthy food and sleep properly. If you can change your habits, you don’t have to worry about the disease.

The advisor said these things during the closing phase of the ‘Health Olympiad and Online Quiz Competition 2024’ organized with the aim of increasing health awareness among school students at the Abdul Karim Sahithabisharad Auditorium of Bangla Academy in Dhaka on Friday (October 18, 2024).

The environmental advisor said, the nation cannot be healthy if the citizens are not healthy. Tuberculosis is not a big problem now, but we have to be aware. With knowledge comes power. Such competitions play an important role in increasing health awareness among students.

Daily Prothom Alo editor Motiur Rahman presided over the program among others, Director General of Health Education Directorate Professor Dr. Nazmul Hossain; USAID Team Lead Samina Chowdhury;
Executive Director of ICDDR, B. Tahmid Ahmed; Dr. Program Manager of the National Tuberculosis Control Program. Md. Jahangir Kabir and Saira Banu, Senior Scientist of ICDDR,B were present.

Prizes, certificates and trophies were distributed among the winners on the occasion. The competition was organized by ICDDR, B and Prothom Alo in collaboration with USAID, in which around 550 students from various educational institutions of the country participated.
