Advocate Md Matiur Rahman Akanda a member of the central executive council and the publicity and media secretary of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami. He stated, “In the future, the force that will resist injustice in this country is Jamaat-e-Islami. Among the South Asian countries, Bangladesh is a promising nation. After 53 years of independence, a new opportunity has emerged in Bangladesh with the fall of the autocratic government.
We must seize that opportunity. We have to reach out the message of Islam to every individual. We need to build a beautiful society according to Islamic laws.” He made these remarks as the chief guest at a conference for party members organized by Jamaat-e-Islami in Mymensingh city on Friday, October 11, 2024. The conference was chaired by Maulana Kamrul Ahsan Emrul, the Amir of the city, and conducted by Secretary Professor Shahidullah Kaiser.
Special guests included Dr. Samiul Haque Faruki, the central organizational secretary and director of the Mymensingh region; Md. Abdul Karim, Amir of Mymensingh district Jamaat and a team member of the Mymensingh region; and city Naib Amir Asaduzzaman Sohel, among others. Advocate Matiur Rahman Akand stated, “Among the proposals for state reform presented by Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, one of them is to implement a proportional representation system in national parliamentary elections.
Journalists, intellectuals, military personnel, civilians, and bureaucrats have already welcomed Jamaat. The contributions of Jamaat-e-Islami are significant in three areas as a party. No political party has been able to offer a theory regarding the electoral system. Today, all political parties are returning to the caretaker government system innovated by Jamaat-e-Islami.”
