The interim government has taken maximum precautionary measures to ensure the smooth celebration of the Durga Puja

Advisor to the Ministry of Post, Telecommunications, and Information Technology, Mohammad Nahid Islam, stated that the interim government has taken maximum precautionary measures to ensure the smooth celebration of Durga Puja. He mentioned that Durga Puja is one of the largest festivals for Hindus. The government has taken comprehensive measures to organize this festival smoothly. In the future, Hindus will be able to celebrate the festival in a more joyful environment.

These statements were made during the visit to various Durga Puja venues in Dhaka on Thursday (October 10, 2024).

The advisor stated that since the independence, Hindu communities in the country have faced various forms of persecution. They have been attacked, and their properties looted. They have not received any justice because those who are supposed to deliver justice are the ones involved in these attacks. Those in power have no right to remain in power if they cannot ensure the safety of any community.

He further mentioned that following the fall of the government after the anti-discrimination student movement, there were unwanted attacks and vandalism against Hindus. Efforts are underway to bring those involved in such incidents to exemplary justice. If such incidents are not tried severely and exemplary punishments are not enforced, they will continue to occur. Additionally, arrangements will be made for compensating the affected Hindu communities. The government is working to return what is owed to each individual. With your cooperation, it is possible to maintain communal harmony in the country. Everyone must remain vigilant against those who seek to gain political advantage by creating division among us, destroying temples, and vandalizing idols. The government is monitoring these issues very carefully.

It is noteworthy that the advisor visited the Shree Shree Jut Madan Gopal Ji Temple in Sutrapur, the Shankhaniidhi Temple in Wari, the Puja Mandap organized by the Young Starts Puja Committee in the Central Women’s College premises in Tikatuli, and the puja mandap organized by the Shree Shree Sarbajanin Durga Puja Committee in the Harijan colony in Bangshal.
