Ashis Chowdhury, Special Correspondent, Broadcasting News Corporation: Fisheries and Livestock Adviser Farida Akhtar said, Instead of exporting hilsa, we have to make more efforts so that the people of the country can get the hilsa fish. It is not reasonable to increase its price unnecessarily. Country should be given importance first, then export. Necessary steps will also be taken to ensure that the price of hilsa is within the purchasing power of common people. He said these things to reporters after joining his office at the Secretariat on Sunday (11 August 2024 AD). At the time, he also said that due to ‘syndicate extortion’, the price of daily commodities increased in the market. This syndicate must be broken. All food products must be unadulterated to protect future generations.
Also, increasing the supply of products in the market will reduce the price. For this, the supply should be increased. Prices of eggs, milk, fish etc. should be reduced.
