Bangladesh promised to uphold labour rights and Social Justice

Dhaka, Broadcasting News Corporation: State Minister for Labour and Employment Md. Nazrul Islam Chowdhury said, Bangladesh has promised to uphold labour rights and social justice, both in our Constitution and through our membership in the International Labour Organization (ILO). As we get ready to move up from Least Developed Country status to a developing nation, the changes we make in the labour sector will be really important. State Minister said these as the chief guest at the national dialogue on ‘Promoting Decent Work Agenda to Advance Social Justice’. The national dialogue was organised by the Ministry of Labour and Employment, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, International Labour Organisation (ILO) in Bangladesh at the Foreign Service Academy, State Guest House Sugandha, Dhaka sunday. Labour Secretary Md. Mahbub Hossain chaired the national dialogue with Senior Secretary of the Foreign Affairs Masud Bin Momen, ILO Country Director, Tuomo Poutiainen, all concerned officials of the Ministry of Labour and Employment, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, International Labour organisation (ILO) Bangladesh in attendance. The State Minister also said, we all want to create a fair, inclusive, and sustainable job market. The initiative under the Global Accelerator for Jobs, Social Protection, and Just Transition is a great chance for us to speed up progress toward a better future. By working with governments, international organizations, and businesses, we can make sure everyone has a decent job and social protection. Also, to have an evidence based national wage policy and workplace safety are important parts of our plan to grow our economy in a sustainable way. By paying fair wages and making sure workplaces are safe, we not only protect workers’ rights but also help our country grow and be more productive.
